The Spanish Inquisition

Women, do you find Monty Python:

a) extremely funny
b) funny, I guess
c) stupid
d) all of the above

My brother and my nephews were having an argument about whether or not women find Monty Python amusing. I was cited as an example of one who does (which is correct), thus proving my brother wrong. But this raises the question...do others?

M.(Jenkins)here. Ruth J's older sister. I've been reading your blog courtesy of our mutual friend Michael G.
I find Monty Python HSYTERICAL as do my sisters, and many of my women friends.
So THERE to your brother.

A. d'uh. I do think that maybe women who have brothers or who had lots of male friends might be predisposed to like it more.

Monty Python isn't hilarious to women? What? Then I must be a man.

Funny. Sometimes very funny.

But not as funny as my ex found it - he was pretty much word-perfect on every episode and every one of their films.

(Mind you, I'm word-perfect on John Cleese in 'The Balance Sheet Barrier', so I guess I can't call him sad...

My family used to have entire dinner conversations that were just a series of Monty Python lines. And we often enjoy our own cheese shop or ministry of silly walks with our kids!
not funny.HA!! Your brother doesn't know the right women! Raise those nephews right- make them appreciate funny women!

My mom used to watch it when it was first on public TV in the early-mid 70's and thought it was funny. MizBubs, her sister and both my daughters love it as well. I think most of the girls I dated in high school and college all liked Monty Python, so I'm not sure love of Python is a gender issue.

Now, the real question to ask is, do any women like the Three Stooges?

Thank you for helping me trample my brother into the ground. I love winning arguments. Though I think he could likely have asked his wife and she would have trampled him, too.

As to the Three Stooges, I'm willing to bet that that IS only a male joke. For women, they're just a little to real to be funny.

Yep, love the Monty Python, loathe the stooges.

Also love Catherine Tate and Little Britain.
The Missus does and she is far better than me at quoting the Pythons and "A Fish Called Wanda."
